Journal52 Week 02

This prompt was "Just Be".  This was so far, for me, was the "happiest" and most freeing piece I have done.  I received the most comment from my fellow Journal52 artists on this particular piece.  I even used it to produce a postcard for another annual postcard swap I participate in.  The background was done with gelatos, collaged with paper napkins, stenciled with black Distress Paint, and outlined in with a white pen.  She has a shimmer that does not show in the photo, but she is wonderful (at least to me)!

I am participating in Journal52 which is a Weekly Art Journal Facebook group.  Every week the group puts out a "prompt" for all members to use as a guide to create art based on that prompt.  We interpret this prompt as we feel.  There is no pressure to share or even do the prompt.  It is purely a stimulus to encourage you to create and expand your artistic capabilities as you see fit.  It has been a wonderful experience for me.  I find that I am creating with less restraint and with less "overthinking".  Does that make sense to you?  I am using a lot more color and my pieces seem much lighter. This is the first time I have ever kept an art journal. In any case, I will try to share some of my Journal52 art work here. Journal52 Week01

Week 1's prompt was Pathways.  I chose an image from a catalog, gessoed the page, inked with Distress Ink and used many wintry die cuts.  Of course there had to be some bling to serve as ice crystals.  Because this is my first art "Journal" I feel the need to include words of some sort.
